12/23/14 Crate Coffee Table

So about two weeks ago we decided that our tufted ottoman wasn't cutting it for a coffee table so set out on a search on Pinterest to see what I could find. We love to build stuff ourselves especially since it saves us money.

At the time of building it I totally spaced and realized after the fact that I should have done a tutorial on it but things have been kinda crazy since the move into the new place. But anyways.... if you have any questions on the build you can always ask.

So first we went to Micheals and bought four crates. We were able to use a 20% off coupon. So that saved us some money. Then we went over to Lowes and bought a small can of the color paint we wanted. And some copper casters. We used a semi gloss paint. When we got the color we thought it would be more gray but it turn out more on the blue side... But none the less it still came out ok.

So below you can see we painted the crates and we were letting them dry. The piece of plywood we found at my moms so we didn't have to pay for a base. We painted the top of that only because from the top in the middle you would be able to see down in there and we didn't want just the wood showing through.

So after it all dried we pretty much but the crates together side by side and screwed them together. Some people used L brackets. We didn't feel like we needed them. Then once together we then screwed on the platform on the bottom. Then the casters onto the platform. And Ta da!

The great thing about these is you can put whatever you want in the middle and then there is storage all around the sides

Can Pen Holder:

I know this is nothing big but I saw it on pinterest and needed one so I thought I would try it!

Its recycling old cans and turning it into a pen cup for your desk or work area. :) I got the cans from doing my freezer crock pot meals. Now I just need to buy some paper to wrap around them. :)

Here is the finished product :) Kinda a crappy photo but you get the idea.

Coffee Filter Wreath :)

9/7/13

So yesterday I had some time while drinking tea to make a wreath :) The DIY coffee filter wreath :) I have to give credit to thefrugalhomemaker.com . That is where I found the original craft.

So here is what you will need:

Coffee Filters (I got mine at the Dollar Tree) I bought 2 packs, but only needed one.

Ribbon of your choice

A wreath foam mold. I went ahead and just bought the one at Micheal's. I did the 14 inch one. The tutorial is for a 36 inch I believe.

Hot glue gun

Glue gun sticks

So there is really no art to making it. Just scrunch the coffee filters and glue to the wreath. Dont think about placement. You can always fill in later where you missed spots.

Getting started...

Almost done...

I hot glued the ribbon to the back. Let it set then you can just hang it where ever you want.

This is the finished product. The ribbon isnt how I want it, this was to show the wreath after it was done. :)
